Admission to RSHU for international students



 

There are three ways to become a student of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University (RSHU)

1st way - Training Contract

The contract training involves a contract between the student and university. Documents, required for entry into a contract basis.

Also, you can study the  rules of admission of foreign citizens to study in RSHU.

 

2nd way  –  Scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation

 

The Government of the Russian Federation offers fellowships to approve foreign students to study at RSHU. The scholarship includes:

1. Waiving of tuition fees for study at Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. level;

2. Monthly stipend of 2400 RUR ( 7500 RUR for Ph.D. students);

3. Accommodation (2 students in one room) at the University dormitory at the lowest price (about 1300 rubles per month);

4. Free use of the library and sports facilities at RSHU;

5. Meal at the university canteen at a low price (100-150 RUR per one student for three-course lunch);

6. Discount for public transport use(1000 RUR per month for use of all types of city public transport);

7. Perfect discounts for visiting Museums, Theaters;

8. The lowest price for medical insurance.

 

Applicants should submit the following documents to Representative Rossotrudnichestvo/Russian Centres of Science and Culture or to the Russian embassy in the candidate country of residence.

 

List of required documents:

1. Filled in  application form  with an attached color photograph;

2. Copies of documents confirming subsequent educational levels including a transcript of records;

3. Medical certificate issued by the official authority of the candidate residence country;

4. Certificate of HIV and AIDS negative test results issued by the official authority of the candidate residence country;

5. Copies of passport pages containing the information required for study visa, valid for at least 18 months from the start date of the entry student visa (clearly readable pages containing the setting data for invitation);

6. Copies of birth certificate (if any);

7. Other relevant documents (diplomas; international, national, and other academic contest certificates). 


For admission to Master and Ph.D. programs:

8. Abstract in Russian or English language;

9. List of publications.

 

ATTENTION! IMPORTANT!

ALL DOCUMENTS have to be translated to Russian and certified by Embassy/Consulate of the Russian Federation in the home country of a candidate for study at RSHU.

The RSHU does not cover international travel expenses of candidates to St. Petersburg and from there back upon completion of the studies.  Representatives of RSHU only provide students with transfers from the airport/railway station to RSHU. RSHU is not responsible for scholars' families staying in Russia.

until 01 February 2019 - member countries of Commonwealth of Independent States, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Abkhazia, South Ossetia

until 01 April 2019 - North and Latin America, European countries

until 01 May 2019 - African, Asian, Middle East countries

                    

 

The algorithm of admission to RSHU

 

First of all you need to register on the site https://russia.study/en  and follow the instructions on the site. 
This is the only official site for the selection of foreign students.

1. You register on the site; 
2. Complete your application form; 
3. Choose the direction for your study in RSHU; 
4. Choose our university as a desirable university (Russian State Hydrometeorological University). The university must be the first on your list;
5. Choose an item that needs a preparatory department (this is necessary  so that you can learn Russian in Russia); 
6. Fill out the questionnaire to the end and follow the instructions on the site.

 

3way – Fellowship of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

 

The Government of the Russian Federation annually offers assistance for people from other countries to study at the Russian State Hydrometeorological University (RSHU) in the Russian Federation in such fields as Meteorology and Hydrology but also Ecology, Economics and Management, and Oceanography. Over the last decades, approximately 700 personnel from more than 80 WMO Member countries have successfully completed studies in St Petersburg and gone on to influential and senior positions in their National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and similar national authorities. In the last 10 years, more than 60 of them were also supported by WMO fellowships.

 

Under this scholarship program, the Russian Federation authorities fully cover tuition fees (including preparatory 1-year Russian language course) and provide a monthly stipend to cover expenses related to accommodation at the university hostel and local public transportation.

 

WMO can additionally provide a monthly stipend of USD 500, comprehensive medical insurance plus a monthly book allowance of USD 100 for the whole period of study. A thesis allowance of USD 750 and a termination allowance of USD 200 are payable upon successful completion of the studies and the submission of fellowship monitoring reports. Please note that WMO does not provide funding for home leave travel or excess baggage during the period of the fellowship.

 

How to apply:

 

To apply for the scholarship candidate should address the national Meteorological Service for nomination. Permanent Representatives nominating a candidate for WMO  are requested to complete and return to the Secretary-General of WMO, a duly completed and signed  WMO Fellowship Nomination Form  (FNF), ( for more information please visit http://www.wmo.int/fellowships), and the  Russian Federation Scholarship (RFS) Application Form with copies of all supporting documents.
